Amy Jensen participated in the College Board Academic Advisory Committee meetings in New York this weekend. The College Board designs academic assessments such as AP tests and the SATs and programs such as the AP Capstone. As a member of the Arts Advisory Committee Amy meets with other academic areas ( English, World Languages, History) on the Academic Advisory Committee twice yearly to advise the College Board on academic initiatives.

Photo 1:  Micah Anderson, our composer, in the middle, and former TMA student John Bills (he co-shot and edited) on the far right. Brad Barber created and produces the series Beehive Stories.  Brad directed and shot the episode (“Iron County”) that won.  “Iron County” won the Interstitial award.

saratov-approach-lds-movieIt’s a pretty big deal to have a locally distributed film be covered in Variety, but The Saratov Approach was recognized for becoming a local hit.  Written and produced by TMA alum Garrett Batty, with TMA alum Maclain Nelson (producer, actor), the film opened in Utah is is has now expanded to 6 western states. “Writing its own box office success in the history books, ”The Saratov Approach,” the real-life story of two Mormon missionaries who were kidnapped and tortured in Russia, has quietly become a local B.O. hit in heavily Mormon areas throughout Utah, grossing nearly $500,000 in two weeks on only 23 screens.”  For the complete article, go to

JordanPETERSENWelcome to TMA’s newest employee, Jordan Petersen, our new media arts assistant. Jordan will be working with alumni outreach, capstones, and social media in the department. Jordan graduated from media arts in 2011 and received his MFA in screenwriting from Boston University in 2013. He is currently working on a feature screenplay he hopes to direct next year.
