Wade Hollingshaus Research presentation at a conference on “Theatre and the Nomadic Subject”
Divine Comedy returned from their annual workshop trip last Saturday. The company, accompanied by one of their advisors, Elizabeth Funk, attended two day-long workshops in Los Angeles this year, one with Drew Droege at the Groundlings and the other with Maclain Nelson (TMA alum and George’s son) at the Thrillionaires. All of them felt they learned a lot and had a great time. The group was also able to attend evening performances of comedy shows with the Thrillionaires, the Upright Citizens Brigade, and the Groundlings, as well as shows at Disneyland and Universal Studios. The purpose of the annual trip is to educate group members on different forms of comedy, to view professionals in improv, sketch, and musical comedy styles, to engage in an academic examination of the theatrical and stylistic techniques employed by professional sketch comedy performers. Techniques and sketches developed in the workshops will be used in the Divine Comedy Fall season.
