ARIEL THEATRICAL is a musical theatre production company whose mission is to help young people learn to live principle-centered lives while participating in musical theatre classes and productions. We teach, model and encourage Accountability, Respect, Integrity, Excellence, and Leadership (A-R-I-E-L) in all aspects of our programs and operations. Young people are given unique opportunities to learn the importance of practicing these key principles while creating, performing, and sharing experiences that will impact them for a lifetime.
ARIEL is located in the vibrant City Center of Salinas, California. Our season consists of 10 productions annually. In addition, we provide programs that are woven into our yearly schedule including summer day-camps, off-site after-school theatre programs, day-time home school classes, and a partnership with Special Kids Crusade (a local non-profit) through which developmentally disabled children and young adults participate in a mentor-supported musical production. All of ARIEL’s programs are performance based. Instruction in acting, singing and dancing is integrated into the rehearsal process.
ARIEL is seeking an Artist-In-Residence who will work closely with the Artistic Director in implementing established programs. The candidate will focus on helping young people learn skills, develop character, and cooperate with other cast members while bringing all elements together for public performances with high production value. The candidate will work with the Artistic Director to make decisions about staging, costuming, and design. This is a position with long-term growth potential.
Candidates must have a sound understanding of the theatre process and the ability to direct and teach children (ages 5-18). The candidate must demonstrate strong organizational skills, a high standard of integrity, an exceptional work ethic and attention to detail. The ability to take initiative, show leadership and embrace the ARIEL mission in every aspect of their work is imperative. A bachelor’s degree in theatre or theatre education with teaching experience is preferred but not required.
Salary is commensurate with experience. Vacation time and paid holidays are included.
