  • Deadline to register with a paper presentation: Please see your acceptance letter sent to you after submitting the abstract.
  • Deadline to register without a presentation: At least one month before the conference subject to approval.

Utah Academy of Sciences, Arts & Letters 2018: Call for Papers

The Utah Academy of Sciences, Arts & Letters invites all Utah scholars to submit papers for the 2018 Annual Conference April 7th at Southern Utah University in Cedar City, Utah.

ABSTRACT DEADLINE: Extended to March 1st, 2018

All faculty and student members of the academy are eligible to participate. The Academy encourages participants to submit a manuscript on their presentation for publication in the refereed Journal of the Utah Academy. One outstanding manuscript from each Division will be selected and its author(s) will receive a cash award. Please submit your manuscript to your division chair.

The Rookies 2018 Competition

The Rookies has officially launched and we will be taking submissions starting March 7, 2018. This is a great opportunity for your students to win paid internships, prizes and scholarships. It’s free to enter and we don’t use students work for commercial gains.

This year’s categories are: Animation, Film Production, Graphic Design, Illustration, Industrial Design, Motion Graphics, Next-Gen Gaming, Photography, Visual Effects, Virtual Reality and Web & Mobile.

Old Miner Children’s Playwriting Contest 2018

Utah Valley University is seeking scripts for child audiences from Utah College student playwrights for its fourth annual Old Miner Children’s Playwriting Contest. The deadline has been extended to Thursday, January 25. The winning Utah college student playwright receives a $250 cash prize plus a staged reading and workshop development as well as opportunities to work with the national division winner. An additional $500 “Strike It Rich” prize may be awarded for the winning script in either division or shared between the two winners, if the play is based on the life of a real child.

FUSION’s THE SEVEN 13th Annual Short Works Festival 2018

FUSION’s THE SEVEN 13th Annual Short Works Festival announces 2018 theme: “THE REST OF THE STORY” – THE SEVEN is one of the nation’s premiere short works festivals.  It features seven fully produced world premieres, utilizing seven different directors and a professional ensemble cast.  The scripts are reads by a jury of theatre professionals (blindly, without any identification of the playwright) and the seven highest scoring scripts will be produced.  The overall Jury Award-winner will be awarded the Andaluz Prize, and will receive transportation to/from and lodging at the festival.The performance will be held June 7 to June 11, however submission deadlines are as early as April.
